ALLEVIATE STRESS AND OVERCOME GRIEF –

Mindfulness Meditation for Emotional Stress

Throughout our lives, we experience a variety of emotional stress varying from day to day stress and anxiety to emotional strain from change, trauma, grief and loss.  Stress is inevitably a part of life, but it is our reaction to stress that creates suffering.

Awareness of the body and mind’s reaction to events can allow you to identify skillful ways for coping with stress to prevent the body from developing disease. When you practice mindfulness meditation consistently, physical changes in your brain change how you respond to stress creating healthier ways of being with yourself and others.

Expectations

The work we do in and out of these sessions requires effort and consistency. Mindfulness and meditation can only be of lasting value if you have the discipline to practice regularly, as well as the motivation to try and be mindful throughout your day. Daily practice is expected.

Meditation is an important part of mindfulness, whether you initially enjoy it or not, as it awakens you to your current situation. When you practice with an alert and open mind for just a little bit of time, you will begin to recognize the benefits that naturally occur and become accustomed to the practice.
